On April 8th, 2014, I hosted about 60 area physicians here in Freehold for a dinner presentation to address the obesity battle and how our medical community can partner together to help New Jerseyans overcome this disease.
There was a lively Q & A at the end of my presentation where family doctors, surgeons, GI doctors, pediatricians and other medical specialists asked questions and shared their ideas.
My mission is form a unified coalition in the New Jersey healthcare industry where, within our medical specialties, we help people avoid obesity and the chronic diseases that come along with them.
As a bariatric surgeon, I help people whose weight has already approached the morbid obesity range or their weight has allowed diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, hypertension or chronic joint pain to interfere with their quality of life.
But if we can help our community (children, adults and seniors) find successful methods for losing excess weight early on, we will be a richer and more healthy community to which others aspire.
