In 2015, Michael Chaillet had a scare, multiplied by five. At age 48, the Iselin resident had a massive heart attack requiring a quintuple bypass (open heart surgery).
Immediately thereafter, he stopped smoking, for good. But like many who battle nicotine addiction, he turned to food for solace. Already overweight, he eventually tipped the scale at 280 pounds.
“I nearly died from the heart attack and that was a real wake-up call to me,” the Iselin resident notes. “I’m still a relatively young guy with a lot of life left to live.” When his daughter became pregnant with his first granddaughter, he vowed to be around to watch her grow up. Read more…
