Prime Surgicare recognizes the importance of the bariatric patient’s emotional and clinical support needs before surgery, during the weight loss process and even after goal weight has been achieved.
We offer a free monthly support group at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold every 2nd Wednesday from 6 to 7pm in the Health Awareness Center, Rooms 1 and 2. Exceptions are for extenuating circumstances or for dates that fall on a holiday and need to be postponed (you can call the office at (732) 982-2002 to confirm the new date).
Our Prime Surgicare bariatric dietitian, Lori Skurbe, RD, MS, facilitates the group, which often includes more than 50 participants. This group is a safe place to share feelings, ask clinical and personal questions, seek advice and receive encouragement and support.
Weight loss surgery support groups have been shown to directly increase the chances of short and long-term patient success following bariatric surgery. Friends and family members are also warmly welcomed.
Our support group focuses on learning new relationships with food and introducing or rebuilding an exercise and fitness strategy which goes hand-in-hand with the fastest and most effective path to long-term weight loss.
A typical support session begins with a presentation and discussion on a relevant topic, led by Lori. Time is saved at the end of every meeting for patients to ask any and all questions they may have about any topic.
Dr. Seun is also in attendance at these meetings to offer his expertise.
Whether you plan to or have already undergone a gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, lap banding or a revision surgery procedure, we hope you will be part of our Prime Surgicare support family. We’re all in this together to ensure we all succeed.
