“What a learning experience this final journey has been! Why am I always posting on FB to take care of your health regardless of your age? Because I was once you – didn’t care what I ate – didn’t care the scale was going higher – didn’t feel like working out…just didn’t give AF because I wanted to do what I wanted to do……WELP…
After reaching about 267 pounds (my highest weight), and constantly being out of breath, made me realize I needed more help than ever before. Through careful consideration, I had the gastric sleeve in October 2021. By the way, please don’t EVER tell someone who’s had this surgery they “took the easy way out” because that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Having WLS requires psychiatric and other clearances from various physicians, along with multiple tests – which result in a lot of lost time from work. Had I not gone for the required cardiac clearance, I NEVER would’ve found out about my artery blockage and it would not have ended well…
Fast forward 6.5 months and here are my post-op weight loss stats:

“In 2015, I was 355 pounds and not able to walk more than 25 feet without resting. I have four children and wanted to be around a very long time for them.

Yesterday was 2 years since I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery. I was over 450 lbs at one point.
I lost 85 lbs before surgery. The day of my surgery 04/12/18 I weighed 370 lbs. One year ago on 04/12/19 I weighed 255 lbs.
Yesterday 04/12/20 I weighed 235 lbs.
It has been a journey even more mental than physical.
I am still not where I want to be yet (my goal is to be 195 lbs or less).
Maybe I could have been more strict or done more but I moved at my pace.
I have been really strict and focused at times and off track other times.
But I have been living my life and happy. I have continued losing weight at a much slower pace but I haven’t gained any weight back in these last 2 years.
I have no doubts I will get there. This has been life changing in so many ways.

B. Martinez choose to spend her 20’s with a younger look and healthier vibe after losing 80 pounds.

It’s the little things that make life better — I’m not sweating all the time and feeling constantly out of breath. Dr. Togbe has been great. He’s very experienced and wants to do whatever it takes for me to be successful. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is tired of being too heavy.

After struggling with obesity with diabetes and sleep disorders, Anthony decided to have weight loss surgery. He lost over 160lbs in 14 months. He is no longer diabetic and has so much energy, even his 13-year-old son can’t keep up! Anthony tells us how bariatric surgery is not a crutch and that what you do after the surgery determines the rest of your life. He tells us how he broke down when he was able to go to the beach with his son again.

Today is a very significant day for me. 1 year ago today I had bariatric surgery. July 10, 2017 to July 10, 2018 :: 365 short days. My life has taken a huge change in direction. I have lost over 100+ lbs. As I have lost the weight I have gained self confidence, self respect, self love, and a love for exercise. This has been a challenging yet rewarding journey of self discovery for me. Thank you all for supporting me.
