It happens to all of us. You’ve identified that you are truly hungry and are going to eat. You are headed to the kitchen and you are not coming back alone!
Here are my favorite go-to snacks which can satisfy you and offer exceptional nutritional benefits at the same time.
Post this list on the fridge so you can choose a healthy treat for both you and your family and add them to your weekly shopping list:
Popcorn
Ounce for ounce, popcorn contains more protective antioxidants than fruits and vegetables and is rich in fiber (i.e. filling). Skip the microwave kind and use an air popper. Sprinkle with herbs or spices.
Apples
Choose your preferred color and flavor. Filling, fiber-rich, sweet. This is my number one favorite snack that I have with me in the office, the hospital and the car.
Cocoa
Cocoa improves blood flow to the brain which contributes to sharp thinking skills. Fill your mug with 75 percent water, 25 percent skim milk, Stevia and cocoa to conquer a sweet tooth and a grumbling stomach. Stir some in your Greek yogurt for a nice dessert!
Blueberries
Eating blueberries before and after you exercise has been proven to help burn fat longer and absorb more antioxidant compounds called polyphenols, which fight off damage to cells. If I don’t have apples, I have bags of these with me during the day.
Tomatoes
Big, small, red or yellow, you can’t go wrong with this flexible food that you can smash, heat or just pop in your mouth for a filling snack. They contain the antioxidant lycopene, which has been proven to significantly reduce the risk of stroke.

Dr. Seun did Gastric By Pass surgery on me June, 2013. I am THRILLED with the results thus far, however, I now have wings, slapping thighs and sagging boobs. Short of being pushed up and remade…what do other patients do about this? I live at the shore and fear the coming summer. AHHhhhhhh…HELP! LOL
Push-up bras and underarmor are your friends. Exercising especially with weights will help to an extent by toning, especially if you are young and your skin still very elastic. Plastic surgery is the last port of call . We advise that you wait till about 2 yrs out from surgery when you have lost most of the weight. This may not be covered by insurance and patients generally save toward this. Keep up the good work! — Dr. Seun
