Dr. Seun Sowemimo, MD, MBA, MS, FACS, FASMBS, (Dr. Seun), is a board-certified, fellowship-trained New Jersey-based bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally-invasive laparoscopic weight loss surgery. He also performs general surgery, including gallbladder removal and hernia repair surgery.

He is the Medical Director for Bariatric Surgery at CentraState Medical Center, a Bariatric Center of Excellence and also a partner at Central Jersey Bariatrics.
Dr. Seun successfully completed surgical fellowship training in advanced minimally invasive (laparoscopic), robotic and open bariatric surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven, CT .
He completed his general surgery internship and residency training at College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, Harlem Hospital Center, New York, where he was Chief Resident (2004 – 2005). After completing clinical clerkships at Kings College Hospital, London, Dr. Seun began his surgical training at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London.
Dr. Sowemimo also earned his Executive MBA and a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University in 2025.

Dr. Seun is on staff at Hackensack Meridian Health and CentraState Healthcare System, where he serves as Medical Director of the Bariatric Center, an SRC Bariatric Center of Excellence (2023).

Committed to lifelong learning and professional development, the doctor earned an Executive MBA and a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University in 2025.

Jessica has been on Dr. Seun’s team since he launched his private practice. She oversees office management responsibilities, schedules appointments and maintains Dr. Seun’s surgery schedule.
Jessica loves working at Prime Surgicare because she helps patients before and after their surgeries. “It’s a great feeling to see patients eventually walk out the door happy and healthy again.”
Lauren Mandelbaum, PA-C, earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Thomas Jefferson University. Drawn to General Surgery and acute abdominal pathology, Lauren provides right-hand Operating Room surgical support to Dr. Sowemimo. Known for her polished clinical skills and patient safety-focused approach, Lauren is deeply committed to supporting patients with clarity, confidence and compassion throughout their surgical journey. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active, hiking, exploring new coffee shops, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Jenn works at the front desk to assist patients with all of their scheduling needs. She also works alongside patients to help them through the process of preparing for surgery.
She says, “Seeing the transformation throughout the patients’ journeys is such a remarkable thing to experience. It’s definitely my favorite part of this job. I feel blessed to work in an environment that inspires me to continue my own progress in my own journey as a bariatric patient.”
