THANK YOU very much to our bariatric patient, Courtney Wagenblast, for working with us to write an article about your remarkable weight loss journey. She also generously chronicled the tools she discovered which helped her lose 170 pounds and reach her goal weight.
We’ve shared them below:
Fitbit.com — This little device is amazing, it’s a high tech pedometor that tracks your calories burned, steps, flights of stairs and activity for the day. It syncs to my computer, phone and directly to MyFittnessPal where I track my food so I know exactly how many calories are going in and coming out!
Myfitnesspal.com — great website for tracking food and exercise, I have built a great little support group for people who have had bariatric surgery, and anyone can friend me to be added to the group (my screen name is tripmom02).
Earndit.com — you can link your FitBit or other devices to this site and they give you activity points which can be turned in for coupons and gift cards off of fitness related items, they also do challenges where you can win entrys based on how active you are.
Coolrunning.com — The Couch to 5K program is the way I got myself running, it’s a great program that you can do at your own pace as you build your stamina and endurance, I went from being unable to run for 30 seconds to running for a solid hour using this program!
Google Play – this is the link to the “Water Your Body” app for your phone, it will give you a reminder and an alarm to remind you to drink your water!
Honestly, I don’t think I would have been able to stay on track without the above mentioned stuff, it all motivates me so much and keeps me in line!
