Cornell University, Ithaca, NY — Dr. Seun Sowemimo, founder and medical director of Prime Surgicare, has earned dual graduate degrees from Cornell University: an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership (MS).
The intensive, two-year Ivy League program, designed for senior healthcare professionals, equips physician-leaders with the business acumen, policy insight, and strategic tools to navigate and lead in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
While continuing to perform surgeries and manage a growing private practice with five locations in central New Jersey and the Jersey Shore, Dr. Sowemimo completed the rigorous academic program through the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management.
The curriculum integrated healthcare finance, delivery system innovation, data-driven decision-making, and health policy strategy. This multidisciplinary approach positions Dr. Sowemimo to further modernize Prime Surgicare’s operations, strengthen care coordination, and adapt to changing patient needs across bariatric, general, and vein surgery services.
“Completing this dual-degree program has given me broader insight into how we can deliver smarter, more efficient, and more responsive care to every patient,” Dr. Sowemimo said. “The knowledge gained will directly support the continued growth of Prime Surgicare and, most importantly, improve the health and surgical outcomes for all of our patients.”
Dr. Sowemimo’s expanded expertise will enhance Prime Surgicare’s ability to deliver value-based care while maintaining a personalized, high-touch approach. His education will also inform future initiatives aimed at optimizing surgical outcomes, streamlining patient access, and integrating emerging technologies into clinical care.
This academic achievement underscores Dr. Sowemimo’s commitment to staying at the forefront of surgical care and healthcare leadership. His expanded expertise will further strengthen Prime Surgicare’s capabilities in bariatric surgery, hernia and gallbladder surgery, using the latest minimally invasive surgery techniques.
